An informative national capacity building workshop was held in Adare, Limerick on the 15^th October. The event was part of European-wide series of workshops on the Environmental Compliance Assistance Programme for SME’s (ECAP) organised by RSO Spa (Italy) and Eco-conseil on behalf of the European Commission / DG Environment.

Aviareto Ltd, Achieves ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems Certification

Aviareto, a joint venture between SITA SC and the Irish Government, has successfully achieved certification to the Information Security Management Systems standard ISO27001:2005, awarded by the British Standards Institute (BSI).

Aviareto manages the aviation industry’s not-for-profit International Registry service. The International Registry records creditor/debtors agreements for large movable assets (aircraft, engines, helicopters), and operates under the International convention which allows lenders to establish their rights to an asset in different parts of the world.

Information Security Management

Information is the basis on which organisations conduct their business activities. Like other business assets, information is a valuable asset that must be appropriately protected. Information assets include digital information, paper documents, physical assets (computers and networks) including the knowledge of individual employees. The ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems standard provides a robust model for information security risk assessment, security design, implementation, and security management. The standard provides a comprehensive approach to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls that protect information assets and gives confidence to interested parties.
