The next revision of ISO 9001 expected 2015

revision of ISO 9001 expected 2015

ISO 9001:2015 has reached the Committee Draft stage, which is the first consultation in the revision of the standard. It is expected the new revision of ISO 9001:2008 will be published by the end of 2015. At that point there will be a transition period (usually two years) before ISO 9001:2008 officially becomes out of date.

Following the adoption by ISO of ‘ISO Directives Annex SL’ in 2012, all technical committees developing management system standards have to use the same structure, common terms and core definitions and identical core text. This is aimed at increasing the alignment of ISO’s management system standards and ISO 9001 will follow this new format during its revision process. Read more

ISO 17025 International Standard

ISO 17025 Accrediataion Certificate

ISO 17025 is an international standard designed specially for testing and calibration laboratories. It covers testing and calibrations performed using standard methods, non-standard methods and laboratory developed methods. It is applicable to all organisations involved in the performance of testing or calibration regardless of the number of personnel or the extent of the scope of testing and/or calibration activities. For many organisations the ISO 17025 requirements apply only to a part of their business, as they will have customer requirements to have an accredited laboratory. For many it is a commercial decision, giving them access to business that can only provide because they are an accredited laboratory.

For organisations that already have QMS (Quality Management System) e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 or TS 16949 the standard will appear different. It has only two main requirements. Clause 4 specifies the requirements for sound management which is similar to Clause 4 of ISO 9001. Clause 5 on the other hand specifies the requirements for technical competence for the type of tests and/or calibrations undertaken by the laboratory. Read more

The second is an internal audit module for the scheduling and management of audits which integrates directly with our CIP Corrective and Preventive module. These changes are the results of the 100 plus valuable audit days that we experience per year with certification bodies and our clients’ customers, many of whom are leading multinationals auditing to specific industry standards (e.g. Aerospace, Medical Device, Automotive, etc.).
